Professional comedians tend to lead some pretty wild lives and nobody knows that better than their fellow comedians. Usually, what happens off stage is kept pretty quiet, but every once in a while a comic will turn their interaction with a fellow comedian into a great bit for their act. Here’s 8 of my favorite examples of comedians telling stories about other comedians. Check it out, laugh, and then go watch 10 Stoned Celebrities on Sesame Street or read about who was originally supposed to play Al Bundy.
8. Eddie Murphy Talks About Getting A Call From Bill Cosby.
I love everything about this bit from Eddie Murphy’s classic Raw concert special. Murphy’s story about Cosby criticizing his act is great, but what really makes it spectacular is his story about how Richard Pryor reacted to Cosby’s criticisms – suggesting that Eddie tell Bill to “have a Coke and a smile and shut the f*&$ up.”
7. The Sklar Brothers Talk About Getting Dissed By Andrew “Dice” Clay.
Anybody that thinks comedians typically root for each other has never spent much time around comedians. More often, comics treat each other the way the Diceman treated the Sklar brothers in this story.
6. DeRay Davis Talks About Getting Advice From Katt Williams.
It’s not often a comedian gets the chance to tell a story about another comedian with the subject in the audience, but in this bit DeRay Davis does such a good Katt Williams impression that Katt himself can’t help but laugh in the crowd.
5. Robert Schimmel Talks About Introducing Rodney Dangerfield To His Parents.
A lot of people have Rodney Dangerfield stories, but there’s something particularly endearing about this Schimmel story about the time he introduced his parents to Rodney…and Rodney’s balls.
4. Norm MacDonald Talks About Hanging Out With Bob Uecker.
Norm MacDonald is a great storyteller and this tale about spending some time in the announcer booth with Bob Uecker and rocker John Fogerty is no exception.
3. Nick Thune Talks About Pissing Off Richard Lewis.
In case anybody still thinks that Richard Lewis’ neurotic personality is an act, Nick Thune offers proof that it’s not in this true story.

2. Tina Fey Talks About Working With Tracy Morgan.
This is a story about what it’s like to work with Tracy Morgan. Do you really need any other reason to watch it?
1. Artie Lange and Jim Breuer Talk About Norm MacDonald Messing With Hollywood.
Not only is Norm MacDonald a great storyteller, but he’s provided some great inspiration for other comics’ stories as well. In this case, comedians Artie Lange and Jim Breuer swap Hollywood stories about Norm including a great prank Norm played on Chris Kattan when he was on Saturday Night Live.
This post was written by Josh Spector, who has plenty of his own stories about comics.
